The Asaxi Language

Overview

Asaxi (/asaɦi/) is a constructed language developed for The Lozenge Tessellation worldbuilding project. Unlike languages evolved through linear history, Asaxi developed through internal feedback loops and cyclical arrangements within the setting's lore.

Linguistically, it is classified as an Agglutinative, Head-Final language with a default SOV (Subject-Object-Verb) word order.

Grammatical Features

The language is defined by several distinct mechanisms:

  • Noun Classification: Nouns are divided into "Warm" (living/high-energy) and "Cold" (inanimate/static) classes, which govern grammatical agreement.
  • Split Copula: The concept of "to be" is split into Identity (Static Validity) and Performance (Active State), allowing speakers to distinguish between what something is versus how it is acting.
  • Subjectivity Register: Grammar particles possess "Objective" and "Subjective" variants, enabling speakers to encode emotional experience directly into the syntax.
